No booking needed: Taipei (8)

Q: When is a doughnut not a doughnut? A: When it's a Mister Donut. This Asian based chain, originally part of the American Mister Donut franchise, makes a whole range of sweet treats, including the traditional ring shaped confection, but it's really famous for it's "pon" range of chewy donuts, shaped and named after its mascot, the pon de lion. In Taipei, local tastes are catered for with green onion, pork floss and even bonito topped pons. Our favourite though, is the strangely named 'Choco Fashioned', which is more of a soft ring shaped cake, partially dipped in chocolate. Absolutely lovely.
