One of the great things about eating out in Taipei are the little side dishes that are available in many places, particularly those that sell noodles. One really simple yet nice dish has dou fu with a century egg or pi dan (it's really only a few weeks old) and topped with some sweet sauce and shallots. It may well be an acquired taste for many, but once acquired, you'll never let it go.
